Support for scripture program highlights bias of politicians

Dear Editor,
In reference to your article about Special Religious Education (SRE) in public schools (RSA Weekly, 29 March 2025, ‘NSW Labor government backs Liberal-National MPs in praise of scripture program’), it just shows just how biased our politicians are toward especially Christianity. And now the Muslims are getting a foothold here in Australia, as well.
Watching the clip that you attached shows what an almost impossible task it is for us non-believers to change their misguided views. Our parliaments and local governments are very heavily pro-religion.
If Dutton becomes PM, he will do a Trump – i.e. force religious instruction into public schools.
There are churches and Sunday schools where parents, if they desire, can take their children. There is no place in our schools for indoctrination.
Separating church from state never seems to rate a mention with any but a very few politicians.

Inserting God into the picture justifiable

Our Executive Director, Si Gladman, told us that the Religious Advisory Committee to the Services had inserted the words “to God” in their definition of ‘spirituality’ (‘Defence adds ‘God’ to definition of ‘spirituality’ at behest of religious clerics’).
